Many employers don’t like overloaded CVs

There are many employers who don’t like overloaded curriculum vitae of hundreds of applicants because it would only eat their appreciated time. But this situation is not considered by many applicants. They failed to properly create or edit their resumes by not following the basic resume tips . Usually, the applicants would just copy their old file resumes without thinking this is not the proper way to do it. Overloaded CV means that you have inserted many experiences which are no longer needed for the job.

In many cases, big corporations create a specific team of company staff that would scan all the hundreds of applications. There may be specific instructions that they would follow so that their schedule on scanning all the applications will be done in half an hour. Time is very precious for many people in the corporate world. They cannot allow themselves wasting their time to look for untidy and unprofessionally-written resumes and CVs. After all, out of the hundreds of applications they only need maybe one lucky applicant that best suit their requirements, educational background and other related qualifications.

Here are basic faults made by applicants who failed when trying to get hired in a position they are applying for.

Untidy resumes – Untidy resumes are applications which seem to be only hand written ones. By looking at your applications the employer would already have a comment on your application letter.

No cover letter – There are also many applicants that failed to include a cover letter for their CVs and resumes. If this would be the case many applications would be just placed in the shelves or at the thirteenth file.

Poorly written content – Employers are highly-skilled and educated people so they can always detect whether your applications are poorly written or not. The poor content of the resume would always put you down and have your chances very slim if not discarded immediately or thrown in the trash cans.

Poor layout in the resume – There are also applications that are poorly layout which also slows down your chances of getting hired. You should remember that by seeing the layout alone the employer or the person in charge of scanning the application letters would immediately notice your bad resume. This is again a minus factor.

Perhaps you are one of those graduates who never realize why you are rejected many times when you apply for a position. This article will help you find your fault and change them in the future. If you never realize that the curriculum vitae or resume you have submitted was maybe the reason of your failure to get an employment, you may find this fault now or else you will always fail.

There are many applicants who only make simple resumes. This means that these people have not realized that for the resumes they’ve submitted they can be immediately denied by the employers. The applicants should always remember the saying “First impression is lasting”. To impress the employer or the people who will scan your curriculum vitae or resumes you must be able to present highly recommendable ones. I have talked to many employers and they said they always look at good resumes at first sight. They said there were times when applications have reached to 500 in just one position and they have to throw bad resumes to the garbage. They have no enough time looking at poorly written and badly made CVs.

Do pay attention on how to write a good resume so that your employer or the person who will screen the applicants will be impressed even by just looking at it.

Cover letter – Professional resumes have always had a cover letter. This is very important because this is where you are going to initially submit yourself to your supposed employer by telling him your feelings and why you are interested to apply for the vacant position the company offers.

CV-Resume – Now, when you prepare your resume you should have realized that you are to impress the supposed employer that you are qualified for the position. In writing a good resume you should first find out and think about what position you are applying for. If you are a photography graduate applying a position of a photojournalist you should be able to redirect all your experiences and qualifications instead of many ‘blah-blahs’ in your other skills. There are people who can only give few minutes scanning your CV and if you have many insertions in your experiences which are not related to the position you are applying they might ignore some other important points. Do you think the Editor-in-chief could give you hour just to scan your resume? Remember, he is very busy editing many news submissions from Reporters and Correspondents.

There are many bosses in many big corporations who are very particular about the style and layout of the resumes and curriculum vitae of hundreds of applicants they are receiving every time they have career openings.

I have proven this when I applied for a position of a clerk in one of the executive corporations in the busy streets of New York. I was kind of thankful to my brother-in-law who gave me advise how critical is the resume submission in New York. He said if a person should apply for a position he should see to it that it is well presented and creatively written.

Since I have no knowledge about this resume style thing I let my brother do the research in the internet and we copied a good sample. We only changed the information but the layout was really copied a hundred percent. The following day my resume was ready I was impressed at how it was being done by my brother. Since he was a computer artist he could really understand how to play with colours.

The following day I went to the office where I have applied for a clerical position because it was my schedule to submit my resume. Yes, in New York you cannot just visit any office and submit your resume. You have to make an appointment so that you can be properly accommodated when you came. I know after I have submitted my resume I would be given another day for an interview proper. To my surprise, a company staff called my attention and instructed me to go to the office of the manager. Right there and then I was interviewed. The manager told me I have a very impressive resume and by just looking at its cover he was already impressed and decided to conduct the interview. Then I realized the advice of my brother and I silently told myself my brother was right. Had I not listened to his advice I could not have been interviewed outright. The most important thing that happened was my immediate approval by the boss. I was really shocked when the manager immediately absorbed me as one of their personnel. When I left home I told my brother about what happened and we all laugh at my very interesting story. When I scanned the other copy of my application which my brother prepared for me, I began to realize it was really amazing. The way how the resume was written and presented was really very professional aside from the best layout and cover.
